Deals are always exciting. Especially when they are related to “Call of Duty: Black Ops III”. The military science fiction first-person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision will go free this coming weekend.

But player will only have access to the “Multiplayer” feature. Gamespot notes that the game’s multiplayer component is featured “as part of Steam’s Weekend Deal” — the Double XP weekend. This is the perfect deal for the players who want to try the multiplayer feature and the deal is only available on PC.

What seems to be the icing on the cake is that you can grab Black Ops III for $54.68 (US$39.59) this weekend. However, “playing it for free won’t entitle you to the discounted upgrade on the full game,” notes Gamespot.

The Multiplayer Starter pack is only available until Sunday at 1 PM Pacific Time. This available starter pack is a standalone version of the game’s multiplayer mode, notes the source.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Black Ops III, which comes with the game and its season pass, is available for purchase at $110.48 (US$79.99).

The bonus weekend will also provide Double XP throughout the entire weekend.

Earlier we reported about the biggest map from the “Awakening” expansion, “Rise”. “Rise” is only one of the four multiplayer maps coming with the “Awakening” expansion. The other maps are “Skyjacked“, “Splash” and “Gauntlet”. Activision also released a video featuring the multiplayer map in action.

In addition to this, Zombies’ map called “Der Eisendrache” will also come with the “Awakening” expansion.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops III” takes place in 2065, 40 years after the events of Black Ops II, in a world facing upheaval from climate change and new technologies. In response to the drone assaults of Black Ops 2, several countries around the world have developed high-tech air defences that render conventional air forces virtually useless. As such, most of the warfare between countries is done by covert operatives fighting behind enemy lines.
