It is only less than two months away before the much-awaited DLC for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” called “Awakening” launches on PlayStation 4 (PS4).

GameSpot reports that the release date for “Awakening” has been set at February 2. The website says that the announcement was made officially by Activision–the developer behind the game. However, while a concrete release date has been given for PS4, gamers on PC and Xbox One may have to wait a little longer.

According to the site, the launch of “Awakening” on PS4 ahead of other platforms is a product of the deal that Activision and Sony made.

Another article by GameSpot gives a background on the deal between Sony and Activision. In the report, it is emphasized that the deal changes things because it used to be Microsoft that got ahead of PS4 in terms of Activision products.

However, in the end, Activision chose Sony. On the side of PlayStation and how the partnership came to be, GameSpot quoted PS VP Adam Boyes in saying:

“Well, I think the first thing was we’ve had a great relationship with Activision around Destiny. And I’m a huge fan of that.”

GameSpot also details that “Awakening” is the first of four DLC map packs coming to “Black Ops 3”.

Aside from key details of the announcement, IGN reports that Treyarch and Activision also gave a glimpse of “Awakening” features in a video.

IGN breaks down the maps — along with their descriptions — as follows:

Gauntlet – a map based around a military facility with a few different environments
Splash – a playful, colorful abandoned waterpark
Rise – a snowy and deserted construction facility
Hijacked – a re-imagined version of the Black Ops II map Hijacked

Meanwhile, Gotta Be Mobile shares that the “Awakening” DLC will offer players on PS4 with a zombie experience. The website discusses that the “Black Ops 3” Season Pass retails at $49.99. It comes with four map DLC packs.

No release date has been announced for “Awakening” on PC and Xbox One.
