Richard Huckle, who is tagged as one of Britain’s worst pedophile, has been given 22 life sentences. He has targeted, groomed and sexually assaulted children and babies.  Records show that more than 200 children were the victims of this sex predator. He will have to serve at least 23 years in prison.

Huckle, 30, posed as a Christian English teacher and philanthropist and won the confidence of  poor families in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Earlier he had pleaded guilty to 71 offenses including rape and sexual assault against young children aged between 6 months and 12 years. It has been found during the investigation that around 23 children were abused for years.

According to reports on his first visit to Malaysia, Richard Huckle started grooming children as a volunteer and  abused the children without hindrance. Some of his victims were sexually assaulted for years. In one such case, Huckle started exploiting a child when he was only 3 and he continued to do so until the child was 10.

Interestingly, Huckle documented all his child abuse cases in an online scorecard called “Pedo Points”. He awarded himself scores for his heinous crimes on the basis of sex, age and location of the child. The score card also indicated that the number of his victims is much higher than the number the court has as he awarded himself points for the abuse of 191 boys and girls in it, reported The Guardian.

Moreover, the British pedophile has written “Pedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide” a manual on how to get away with abusing children in Asia. Authorities had also retrieved around 20,000 indecent pictures of children from his laptop.

Malaysian authorities are always criticized for failing to handle sex crimes and Huckle had taken complete advantage of that fact. On the other hand, Malaysian authorities criticized the National Crime Agency for failing to warn them about Huckle. The agency admitted that it was first informed about the sex predator in 2014 but failed to present enough evidence to Malaysian police.  On Monday, the country’s leading news bulletins covered the sentencing.

Judge Peter Rook QC  during the sentencing ordered Huckle to serve a minimum term of 25 years.

“Relentlessly, you preyed upon the very young – pre-pubescent vulnerable children from a minority ethnic community into which you ingratiated yourself. This was a prolonged campaign of rape of the children from a small community,” said Rook to Huckle.

According to 9 News.com.au, Rook added that one of the most aggravating features of the case was that Huckle took advantage of the underprivileged children by flaunting his wealth and status as a westerner.

Rook went on, “ Your life revolved around your sexual activities with young children. Your distorted beliefs in respect of children are deep-seated. Your self-delusion knows no bounds.”

Richard Huckle has already spent 488 days in jail and he is going to face more than 23 years in prison.
