The Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie divorce saga could very well turn into one of the most costly breakups Hollywood has witnessed to date.
Brad and Angelina became a couple back in 2004. However, it was only in August of 2014 after six children did they exchange vows as husband and wife. They embodied the essence of a happy couple with a great family. Although now and then, an occasional rumor would try to bring them down. None was so damaging to deem true. Hence, everyone’s surprise when news of the Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie divorce broke out.
Nonetheless, their split raised questions about money. Given their status as one of Hollywood’s power couples and their respective careers, it would no doubt be a significant amount. Forbes estimated their wealth from the time of their marriage at USD $ 117.5 million (over AUD $ 150 million). However, the total amount since 2004 is more than USD $ 555 million (over AUD $ 728 million). Joslin Davis, President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, presumed the existence of a prenuptial agreement. Davis attributed this to their previous marriages.
“This isn’t their first time around the block. It’s highly likely they have a premarital agreement in place to determine exactly what to do in the case of a divorce or separation,” Davis said. If so, the settlement would only include acquisitions made while they married.
Will the Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie divorce settlement outdo everyone else?
Hence, Rupert and Anna Murdoch’s divorce settlement reportedly amounting to USD $ 1.7 billion remains at the top of the list. Actor Mel Gibson and his former wife came second at USD $ 425 million.
Of late, the actor is under investigation on child abuse claims. The accusation came as a shock to everyone. The matter is already under investigation. However, authorities have yet to release an official statement about it. Nevertheless, his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston reportedly does not think he is capable of such. The Business Insider revealed Brad and Jen’s divorce settlement came to USD 60 million back in 2004.
