In an interview with Variety, actor Matt Damon revealed that filming for the fifth “Bourne” movie, being directed by Paul Greengrass, is about halfway through and there is an epic car chase to be shot in Las Vegas. Actress Alicia Vikander also revealed details about her role in the untitled “Bourne” sequel.

“We’re, like, probably about halfway through. We started in September but they’re going dark for most of December and cutting basically the first two acts. And then we have the third act and then whatever we owe from the first two acts,” said Damon.

That third act will include a car chase sequence, to be shot at Las Vegas. Damon said he’ll “try not to f**k it up.” He did not reveal much further about the significance of the car chase in the plot of the film but said in the interview that the film will begin with a riot scene shot at Tenerife, Spain.

Earlier, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Damon described the context of the film. “There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber-warfare and civil liberties,” he  said. Damo also added that fans should expect to find Jason Bourne in “a dark and tortured place,” still trying to find answers about his past.

Damon’s co-star actress Alicia Vikander also talked about her mysterious role but like Damon did not reveal the plot. In an interview with The Wrap, the “Ex-Machina” actress said that her character was action-driven. “I’m not doing the conventional action but I’m very action-driven in this film. But it’s not in the way most people would think.”

Vikander added that filming had already taken place in several European countries and they are currently shooting in Las Vegas.

The fifth “Bourne” film is scheduled to be released on July 28, this year.
