As described by Cinemablend, the trailer offers bits of action packed moments that show off Bourne as the “perfect weapon.” The trailer also revealed Bourne’s character regained all of his memories.
For its new yet straightforward title, Cinemablend revealed the film’s creative team chose to skip adding a fancy noun. The use of “Jason Bourne” gives him a connection to other action characters like Jack Reacher or Jack Ryan.
However, Cinemablend further surmised that it might also be a way to distance its movie from the 2012 spinoff “The Bourne Legacy.” At the same time, they likely want to revitalize the original franchise that started 2001 added Cinemablend.
Damon spoke recently with Entertainment Weekly. Damon revealed his new film “feels like a movie about today.”
“Since 2007, so much has changed. There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber warfare and civil liberties – things that are slowly coming to into the zeitgeist as we start to grapple with what the future is going to look like. And so those are kind of somewhere in the stew of our story,” he shared.
Swedish actor Alicia Vikander stars opposite Damon in “Jason Bourne.”
Damon revealed, “You have to do something great and new, and Alicia is our great and new. She plays a new character we’re introducing, and she’s a specialist in cyber. Instead of just the three arenas of warfare — air, land and sea — there’s now this fourth element: cyber. The implications of that are huge, and she’s representing that in the movie.”
However, Damon did not reveal if Vikander’s character is Bourne’s love interest in the movie.
“Jason Bourne” hits theaters on July 29.
