In March 2011, the world premiere of the Book of Mormon was held at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York. Since its debut, Book of Mormon has played for more than 253 consecutive weeks at over 100% capacity, and then 170 weeks more at over 100% capacity at theatres all around the U.S. The production then travelled to London, and has sold out every single on of its 1225 performances on the West End so far. And in January 2016, it’s headed to the Princess Theatre in Melbourne.

The profanity-laced, fast-paced musical is bound to be as great a success in Australia as it has been abroad, with tickets going on sale eleven months in advance; the sale date for tickets to the general public has been confirmed as Monday 8th February 2016.

Hailed by Entertainment Weekly as “the funniest musical of all time”, the production has enjoyed rave reviews since its opening. The Book of Mormon is one of the most critically successful new musicals of the past decade, and has been met with unanimous praise from the American press. As Ben Brantley of the New York Times called it “the musical of the century”, others were quick to echo similar sentiments and it quickly became the hottest ticket in town. The US national tour and the LA production was met with similar praise, and we are sure that the London production will receive a similarly complimentary set of reviews. The Guardian newspaper reviewing the show in New York gave it 5 stars, calling it “smart as hell”, and a similar view was held by other members of the British Press.”

Numerous Aussies have taken to Twitter and Facebook, saying that they can’t wait to see the show Down Under.
