With “Overwatch” still undergoing its second closed beta test, it is not much a surprise for Blizzard to create more medium in promoting the game as Overwatch has a lot of interesting characters to create back stories for it. As we all wait for the May 24 release, we can expect some promotions from Blizzard to help boost the anticipation for the online first person shooter game.

Unlike some online shooter games that lack some lore and back stories for their characters, Overwatch seems to have rich in lore after people have seen the introduction video for the said game. Blizzard seems to be aiming on that part in expanding the storyline of their characters and lore. When the video was first shown, some hope that it would become an animated movie or series.

Looks like those prayers are eventually answered as there will BE animated shorts planned to be released to promote Overwatch. The first batch is expected to become available this March and will last for two months to help flesh out the lore for the game.

Another part of their plan is to release digital comic shorts for the game as well. The digital comic series will become available for free for everyone to read. This project will be in collaboration with some popular comic book artists and illustrators.

Blizzard will launch its first six-series comic shorts that will focus on different heroes, such as Roadhog and Junkrat as well as the large knight Reinhardt. Expect the first release of the comic shorts in April, starting with the adventures of McCree.

And finally they will also launch a graphic novel that will focus on the Omnic Crisis that is set before the events in the game. It will be written by Micky Neilson and art by Ludo Lullabi, the title of the graphic novel will be called First Strike and expect to see this on sale later this year.

So far Blizzard is serious with Overwatch thanks to the tons of promotions that are making, we can learn more about the game once it is out on May 24 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Be sure to check out their official site as well.
