WATCH The Trailer of The Shallows:
A new taut trailer from the movie shows Blake Lively (playing Nancy) finds out an isolated surfing spot in Australia that her guide describes as “paradise.” The young surfer (Nancy) then tells her sister in a Skype call: “It took forever to find, but it’s perfect.” However, the paradise soon turns into a hell when a series of mishaps start to emerge right on the spot.
Shortly thereafter, a great white shark attacks her. She swims for safety and becomes stranded on a giant rock about 200 yards away from shore. Nancy is seen trapped on the rock as she grasps her injured leg and screams for help while the threatening enemy (shark) ferociously circles in the water beneath her. The preview further shows, there is nothing Nancy can do but watch helplessly, two surfers being brutally mauled. Eventually, Lively’s character starts plotting how to get back to the shore which somehow includes possession of a gun, EW reveals.
The “Gossip Girl” star expressed to EW, “It’s really a story of us all trying to survive on this planet. It sounds lofty, but when you boil it down, that’s what it is. What I really liked about this is that it wasn’t just Bikini vs. Monster… But you still get a little bikini and you still get a little monster!”
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Anthony Jaswinski, The Shallows’ movie poster reads,“What was once in the deep, is now in the shallows.”
The synopsis of “The Shallow” plot reads: When Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on a secluded beach, she hits upon the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stuck only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy’s presence of mind, resourcefulness, and guts.
The Shallows is scheduled to be release on June 24.
