The first part of 2016 brought in a list of good movies. Films in the horror genre, in particular, impressed audiences and critics alike. After these solid performances, another contender tries to score a spot in the lineup. Clues in the Blair Witch 2016 trailers could offer a glimpse of what’s to come.

Two new TV spots were released for the film.

One of the TV spots recalls the release of The Blair Witch Project back in 1999. According to the promo, the first film “changed the face of horror”. It then proceeds with a voice over from the brother of Heather Donahue. The filmmaker went missing after the events of the first film. The protagonist offers determination to find out what happened to his sister.

The 30-seconder TV spot then ends by saying that the curse returns in September. You can watch that first TV spot below.

Blair Witch 2016 darker than the first 2?

According to Screen Rant, Blair Witch happens seventeen years after the first film’s timeline. It remains to be seen how events unfold in this third film. However, according to the website, things doesn’t look very positive considering it’s a horror film.

So will the film be darker than its predecessors? Only time can tell.

However, Screen Rant relays that early reviews of the film did generate good reviews. In addition, people are saying it’s a good scare.

These early comments can both be beneficial and detrimental to Blair Witch. On on hand, it can benefit the film by encouraging moviegoers to watch it. On the other hand, it can be detrimental if the hype reviews have given won’t correspond with the audience’s reception of it.

Meanwhile, the second TV spot also offers an intense preview of the movie. It features the film’s female protagonist doing a recording to explain their documentary. It details how the first film ended, and that they’re on to find out what happened to James’ (the voice from the first spot) sister.

Will this new crew ever find out what happened to the people from the first film? Or will they suffer the same fate?

You’ve got to find out yourself and watch Blair Witch 2016 when it hits theaters this September.
