Natasha Romanoff has proven to be one of the most popular characters from the “Avengers” movies. Because of this, a Black Widow solo movie might just be on the horizon for fans.
Marvel Studio president, Kevin Feige, himself seems to be keen on giving Black Widow her very own film. “We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting ‘Civil War,’ through to the end of 2019,” the film executive told Deadline.
“Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then … I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.”
Feige explained that he has always thought Black Widow was “an amazing character” worthy of her own franchise. “We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing,” he said.
“She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.” However, he did not really confirm when fans could expect this spin-off to roll out.
Meanwhile, “Captain America” co-directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, also talked about Black Widow’s possible film in an interview with Collider.
“I don’t think [it will take] much [to make her film]…She’s a bad-ass,” Joe said. Anthony, agreed. “It’s a no-brainer, right?” he said.
The actress behind the popular herself has wanted a Black Widow solo movie to happen for a while now. “If you want to see a Black Widow spin-off movie, then I want to see it,” Johansson told reporters in 2014.
However, the actress isn’t really making promises, since Marvel has the final say on the matter. “We’ll see,” she was quoted by the Guardian as saying. “We will put the request in to Marvel tomorrow.”
