“The Biggest Loser” Australia has crowned Daniel Jofres Tuesday as the grand winner. The three Jofres brothers – Pablo, Tony and Daniel – battled it out in the final weight-in of TBL Families on Channel Ten.
Daniel shed about 51.6kg of weight – or 39.1 percent of his starting weight – after three months in the competition. According to Sydney Morning Herald, the 24-year-old maintenance worker slimmed down to 80.4 kilograms in 12 weeks.
Daniel, the youngest male biggest loser contestant in the competition, entered the show weighing 132kg. He admitted to news.com.au that he probably was not the one people expected to win.
Michelle Bridges, the Jofre clan’s trainer and creator of the 12 Week Body Transformation, broke down in tears after one member of the Jofres family was declared winner. Bridges told news.com.au that she gave the family her cookbooks as parting gift.
“It was the recipes that kept them accountable regarding portion control,” she said.
Bridges also shared the Jofres’ sample diet for a day.
- Breakfast: Ricotta quinoa pancakes with banana and raspberries
- Mid-morning snack: Apple and a punnet of strawberries
- Lunch: Stir-fried beef with veggies and ginger
- Mid-afternoon snack: Carrot and celery sticks with hummus and a yoghurt.
- Dinner: Grilled salmon with parsley, chickpea and caper salad.
The Jofres brothers and their uncle, Rob, won 14 of the series’ 20 challenges and took out 10 of the 13 weekly weigh-ins. At the end, it was Daniel who was declared grand winner, the biggest loser.
The youngest among the Jofres contestants took home the prize money of $100,000 and said his win was really a victory for the whole family.
Uncle Rob was also named the “biggest losing” contestant, losing 59.3kg and winning $10,000. He also got to marry his wife, Emma, in a surprise wedding, news.com.au reported.
The whole family received $100,000 for the combined highest weight loss of 208.6kg.
Meanwhile, now that the competition is over, Daniel said his next goal is to maintain his physique by having healthy diet and building some muscle mass.
