“The Biggest Loser” will be back with a new theme and a new host this season. So, how will that change the dynamics of the show? Read on to find out!
According to TVGuide.com, Bob Harper has been promoted from trainer to host. The site mentioned that Harper will be more of an “emotional support system” in helping this season’s contestants.
Speaking to Parade, Harper said,
“I’m not taking a passive role. I’m very in everything that’s happening, trying to get into the heads of these contestants, just like I did when I was a trainer. But it’s better now because I can speak freely to all the contestants so they know this is a serious place where we’re trying to do good.”
He added that he’s excited to host the show because he loves “bossing people around.” Likewise, he revealed that he’ll challenge the show’s trainers, Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom.
“I’m not just going to let them get away with whatever it is they might be getting away with,” Harper admitted.
But what can viewers expect from the show this season? Well, it’s all about resisting temptation in all forms. The new theme of “The Biggest Loser” Season 17 is “Temptation Nation.” Harper told TVGuide.com that this idea came from “real-world learning.”
“We looked at seasons past, successes and people that did not succeed. We thought, ‘Ok it’s what happens when they go home that their life starts getting on that slippery slope of getting back to their old ways.”
The new host referred to Season 17 as a “rehab center.” Aside from using the new gym and new double scales on the show, Harper also plans on having group talk forums where contestants can voice out their opinions.
