Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” are surely rejoicing because Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) finally did it! The long-awaited sex scene of Shamy finally happened in the show’s December 17 episode.
However, although this itself is a big event for the couple, is it possible that another major occasion awaits Shamy?
The possibility of a wedding for the two may still be in a distant future; however, it is a concrete concept.
In a report by US Weekly, showrunner Steve Molaro is quoted in saying that the engagement ring Sheldon has been holding on to will resurface in a future episode. Molaro originally divulged this information to Entertainment Online who has the exclusive report.
For fans of the show who faithfully followed the seasons, it can be recalled that the season 8 finale showed a heartbroken Sheldon wondering what he would do with a ring after Amy broke up with him. Although nothing was said, it was implied that Sheldon considered proposing to Amy.
Now that the Shamy tandem are back, it makes one ask whether the engagement ring will surface again.
As response, US Weekly quotes “The Big Bang Theory” showrunner Steven Molaro in saying:
“At some point in the near future, it will come up again. It’s not going to immediately, but we certainly have not forgotten about it.”
The quote is vague enough to suggest that nothing grander is planned for Shamy in the remaining episodes of the season. However, the quote promises that at some point, the open-ended story line of the engagement ring will be put to rest.
For now, fans can watch how Sheldon and Amy’s relationship changes after being intimate for the very first time when “The Big Bang Theory” returns on air in January 9 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
“The Big Bang Theory” also stars Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Kevin Sussman, and Laura Spencer.
