Shamy fans had their hearts broken when Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) wanted to take a break from her relationship with Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) in the previous season of “The Big Bang Theory”.
However, reports suggest that fans of the on-screen couple may be getting what they want–and what Amy really, really wanted–in an upcoming episode of the show’s ninth season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Amy and Sheldon will finally “do the horizontal mambo” in an episode that will air on December 17.
The report added that the scene was filmed last Tuesday in front of a live studio audience. Moreover, since filming the scene live would have had the possibility of a leak, a statement was released by the producers instead.
EW quotes the statement by executive producer Steve Molaro as follows:
“After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship.”
However, although the act will be a big step for the couple, Variety reports that there is still no word on whether the couple is actually back together. The report emphasizes that both can still be broken up and yet engage in coitus.
On the other hand, a preview of the upcoming episode may also hint that the two are working on getting things back to the way they were.
According to E! Online, the November 19 episode of the hit CBS comedy will see “Sheldon and Amy try hanging out as friends when they hit the aquarium for Thanksgiving.”
The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that aside from the big moment between Sheldon and Amy, the December 17 episode of “The Big Bang Theory” will see the return of actor Bob Newhart as Arthur Jeffries who will “reappear as a ghostly Jedi in Sheldon’s dreams.”
Although the explosive episode may still be months away, fans can tune in to “The Big Bang Theory” every Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBS to follow the events that will lead to the much-awaited moment.
