There will definitely be a big bang on “The Big Bang Theory” season 9 premiere.
The hit comedy show did not want their fans to get disappointed, so they went for it and revealed that Leonard and Penny will indeed get married.
“The Big Bang Theory” season 9 teaser trailer shows Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) finally exchanging vows.
The Hollywood Reporter also posted some of the wedding photos of Leonard and Penny in Las Vegas.
The previous season concluded on the possibility of wedding bells between the couple, but as they elope to Las Vegas, Leonard confessed to Penny that he kissed another woman during his North Sea expedition years ago. Penny got pissed and this left the fans hanging if they indeed get married or not.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Steve Molaro revealed the two will finally exchange vows.
“Chuck and I had a long talk about revealing the wedding before the premiere and my fear was that it was going to start sound like they didn’t [get married],” he said.
Molaro explained that the idea was not a positive message and added: “we didn’t want fans to feel like, ‘Oh, they’re going to pull the rug again and not do it.’ There is so much more story beyond that moment that we decided to just let people know.”
The season nine teaser also hinted that Leonard and Penny may not be alone on their wedding day after all. The other gang members seem to be watching the wedding ceremony via satellite.
But Molano said it will not be a smooth sailing marriage for the newlywed at first.
“The Big Bang Theory” executive producer revealed in the second episode, Leonard will talk to his North Sea friend Mandy to finally put their past behind but this will affect the lives of the new husband and wife.
He added that in the coming episodes, the newlywed will also resolve the issue of their living arrangement with broken-hearted Sheldon (Jim Parsons), THR wrote.
“The Big Bang Theory” season 9 will premiere on Sept. 21.
