The Coldplay frontman admits in the newest issue of the Rolling Stone magazine how Beyonce is very honest with him when it comes to his music and what she thinks about it.
Martin recalls when he had Beyonce listen to a track called “Hook Up,” she quickly turned it down.
“In the sweetest possible way: she told me, ‘I really like you — but this is awful,'” he said.
The 38-year-old singer is on the latest cover of the Rolling Stone magazine where he revealed that he is open to constructive criticism from the “Formation” singer.
Despite Beyonce’s comment, the two have a good relationship as seen in Martin’s and Coldplay’s performance at the Super Bowl with Beyonce as a special guest on the band’s halftime show.
Clearly, the two are good friends, Beyonce even told ET that the best part about the halftime show was to “see Coldplay” perform.
In his magazine interview, Martin also talked about his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. He and the 43-year-old actress famously announced their ‘conscious uncoupling’ in March 2014 after ten years of marriage.
“I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It’s a divorce – but it’s a weird one. I don’t think about that word very often. I don’t see it that way. I see it as more like you meet someone, you have some time together and things just move through.”
Their supportive relationship was definitely evident at the Super Bowl as Gwyneth was in the stands with their kids cheering Chris and Beyonce on at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
In the article, Chris also discusses his openness to new music, inspiration from Rocky V and why people always make fun of his band.
Coldplay’s latest release and seventh studio album, A Head Full Of Dreams, is out now.
