Democrat Bernie Sanders has directly come in support of his formal rival and US Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, which seemed unacceptable for most of his fans.
Sanders has supported his party nominee for US presidential elections 2016. He addressed Americans and called for their support to the Democrats, which might have appealed to some, but not to all. Sanders and Clinton have united for their party and put an end to their internal rivalry. According to CNN, they have joined hands for the sake of defeating their common enemy, US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“I have come here to make it as clear as possible why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton and why she must become our next president,” Sanders said at a joint rally here. “Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination and I congratulate her for that.”
The loyal followers of Sanders have criticized his take of favoring his rival Democrat, who made him quit the US presidential elections 2016 race. The negative reactions from the senator’s fans have grabbed the Internet spotlight on Tuesday. The most evident of all criticisms was the Facebook page where Sanders informed Americans about his decision in a message titled “Forever forward.” As a response to this, the followers of the Vermont representative commented “Never Hillary.”
There were several comments where Sander’s supporters expressed their disappointment on his decision. “You broke my heart and betrayed the left Senator Sanders,” one of the senator’s supporter from New York, Cesar Agusto Diaz, wrote.
In his endorsement, Sanders concluded the speech by offering his hands to Clinton for a handshake. Instead of accepting the offered hands, the presidential candidate offered a hug. “We are joining forces to defeat Donald Trump!” Clinton said. “I can’t help but say how much more enjoyable this election is going to be when we are on the same side. You know what? We are stronger together!”
