In the upcoming DC superhero film “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” actress Gal Gadot will play the provocative heroine Wonder Woman. But according to some news, it is Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman who has been chosen to play the character in the much- awaited solo film.
The “Moulin Rouge” star is reportedly under negotiations with Warner Brothers regarding the pivotal role, reports The Wrap.
However, Warner Bros. has made no comment about the news.
The 48-year old actress is not new to comicbook movies. She played the role of Val Kilmer’s love interest in “Batman Forever.”
Meanwhile, the site also believes that if the production team will keep the original storyline, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman’s biological mother should be Hyppolyta- who happens to be the Queen of the Amazons.
As for the film’s cast and crew, director Patty Jenkins will helm the standalone motion picture. On the other hand, Zack and Deborah Snyder- along with Charlos Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment will be producing the film. Additionally, “Pan’s” Jason Fuchs will take care of the script.
The solo yet untitled “Wonder Woman” film premieres on June 23, 2017.
On the other hand, “Dawn of Justice’s” Wonder Woman Gal Gadot expressed her excitement for being the heroine.
“She is the ultimate symbol of strength. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d grow up to be in a movie playing someone who influenced as many women as she has,” she told Fashion Magazine, as quoted by The Daily Mail.
This will be the first time that the heroine has been portrayed on the big screen since DC created the character 70 years ago.
Aside from Wonder Woman, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” also features Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and many more. The movie will hit theaters on March next year.
