Leicester City is getting ready to defend its first Barclays Premier League title. After a surprise championship title last season, the team opens the 2016/17 season in an away match against Hull City. The opening match has been scheduled to be played on Saturday, Aug, 13, at the KCOM Stadium. The match is set for an early kick off at 12:30 p.m. GMT.

According to the Barclays Premier League head-to-head comparison of the two clubs, Leicester has a clear edge over Hull City. In their two previous meetings, Hull never won against the defending champions. The teams drew in one match while Leicester won the other.

Ahead of the 2016/17 season, Leicester City has reportedly completed the contract renewal of miracle maker Claudio Ranieri. The manager led the team to a miraculous victory last season. According to ESPN, Ranieri has pledged his long-term commitment to the club which he only joined last summer. Since then, they lost only three games in the Premiere League and claimed the title 10 points clear of the nearest rivals.

To further motivate the players, Drive reports that the club’s Thai owners have reportedly rewarded them with brand-new sports cars. Last season’s unlikely league victory earned each of the Leicester players their very own BMW i8 coupe. The impressive fleet was delivered to England after the team won the league some months ago. Unlike some big teams that have car sponsorship deals, the big-time newcomers  who own Leicester reportedly paid for the cars.

Last season’s breakout star Jamie Vardy will be the one to look out for this season. Fans are delighted that the club was able to keep Vardy despite offers from rival clubs after his stellar performance. Ranieri was also able to hold on to key player Riyad Mahrez. Unfortunately, N’Golo Kante has been lured by Chelsea.
