The Barcelona Star, Sergio Busquets, might make his way to the English Premier League. At least, that is what we gathered when he indicated that Pep Guardiola’s recent Manchester City move could tempt him to leave Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola became the new boss of Manchester City succeeding Manuel Pellegrini. The 45-year-old legendary Spanish coach found himself tasting new waters in England after his successful stint in both Spain and Germany. According to the BBC reports, Guardiola lost only 19 of his 239 league games as a manager.

As per the ESPN FC reports, the 27-year-old Busquets made his way to Barcelona during the 2008-09 season and went on to become one of the best mid-fielders in the world under Guardiola.

“I have always said there are just two people who could make me change my decision to stay at Barcelona,” he told ESPN. “One of those two people is my wife. And she is happy here right now, so I don’t think there will be any issues on a personal level.

“On a sporting level, that other person is Guardiola. It’s clear that I owe Pep a lot and I would be honoured to work with him again.”

The Guardian reports that  Sergio Busquets told reporters Gaurdiola remained as an inspiration and would not like him to leave Barca. His contract would end in 2019.

“He knows that Barcelona are my club and it’s his club as well,” he added. “He knows it’s best for the club and for me to stay here and I don’t think he will ask me to leave Barcelona.

“I hope that when I end my career, I go down in history as a great team player, who won titles and excelled. I want to become one of the players with the most games for Barcelona.”

Sergio Busquets fell short of confirming anything. When the current Barca manager Luis Enrique was asked about Guardiola being an influence for some Barca players to leave Camp Nou for England, he said, “”I don’t see Guardiola at City as a menace for our players.”

“It is a question for Guardiola and Busquets, not for Luis Enrique.”

It would be interesting to see how things play out for Busquets.
