The Bachelorette 2016 Australia recently eliminated participant Sam Johnston defended himself against haters after his remark in the show that broke Georgia Love’s heart.

Georgia invited Sam in a two-in-one date on suspicion he joined the show for the wrong reasons. He admitted to Georgia that being in the Bachelorette Australia 2016 will help his acting, modeling and presenting career. Sam also said he will not be heartbroken when he leaves the show without Georgia. This forced the TV journalist to kick her out of the show along with another contestant, Rhys.

Fans of the reality show quickly slammed Sam. One fan even said modeling agencies and agents should not hire Sam.

The electrician from New South Wales however said his statement was taken out of context. He said it is not true that he joined the Bachelorette 2016 Australia just for publicity. Sam explained that he tried to keep his modeling and acting plans under wraps. Rhys however told Georgia about it before he could do so.

Sam added he and Rhys remained good friend after what happened. He also stressed that he joined the Channel Ten reality show for the right reasons and that is to find love.

Elle magazine also asked Sam about him being upset of not seeing his fellow contestant than Georgia. “I was upset that I couldn’t go back and see the guys. It just sucks because I hadn’t had much time with Georgia in the first place to make a really good connection … When she asked me if I’d be devastated if I left, I was like, “Well, I didn’t really get much of a chance to personally get to know you. So I’m not really sure what I’m going to be devastated about.” I was a bit upset, you know what I mean?” he replied.

The Bachelorette 2016 Australia airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30pm on Network Ten.
