“The Bachelor” Australia 2014 leading man Blake Garvey and fiancé Louise Pillidge have confirmed that they have split.
“We were walking on eggshells around each other, always trying to say the right thing … It was suffocating,” Garvey said in an interview with New Idea.
Pillidge, on the other hand, revealed to the magazine that it was Garvey’s decision to go their separate ways.
“We sat down recently and Blake said: ‘It’s just not working – I feel like we’re treading water’. I knew deep down that he was right but I would never have been strong enough to say it. It feels surreal and since then I have gone through so many emotions. I’ve been crying, numb and angry,” Pillidge said.
She also admitted she found it very difficult to admit that she was not Blake Garvey’s first choice and the negative reactions of the public has taken its toll.
“The negativity has been draining, plus it took months to deal with the fact I was Blake’s third choice of partner. In the end, I had to build a bridge and get over it if I was serious about making a go of our relationship,” the 28-year-old lifestyle blogger revealed.
It can be recalled that the 33-year-old auctioneer from Perth proposed to Sam Frost in the finale of “The Bachelor” Australia 2014. However, Garvey changed his mind after the finale and dumped her. He then announced that he is in love with runner-up Pillidge. Soon after, Garvey has been criticized for breaking up with Frost.
News.com.au reported that the couple also underwent three months of counselling in an attempt to repair their relationship before they called it over.
Pillidge moved to Perth from Brisbane shortly after the relationship began and the pair are still living together in separate bedrooms in their Subiaco apartment, the site added.
Meanwhile, Mail Online noted that during Pillidge’s 28th birthday in February, Blake Garvey was noticeably absent in the pictures but their joint publicist told the site at the time there was no problem between the pair. The following month, she spent vacation in Hawaii with her mother and her fiancé was absent once again.
