The Australian PGA Championship 2015 began on Thursday Dec. 3 and the champion would be crowned on Sunday Dec. 6 at RACV Royal Pines Resort in the Gold Coast.

The windy Gold Coast had quite an impact in the opening round of the Australian PGA Championship. Brandt Snedeker, one of the highest ranked player, had the worst possible start to his campaign. The wind is certainly not in favor of the sport.

According to ABC Net, “There were only five others who finished their rounds in the red on Thursday as players faced furious winds of up to 60kmh and the odd lashing of morning rain.”

“I wish I could put a spin on it,” said Snedeker. “The conditions were tough but I played with Sendo and he played a really solid round of golf.”

“When you’re not firing on all cylinders and the wind is blowing the way it did out here, your mistakes are going to be exacerbated – mine were.”

Mathew Miller had a positive star to his campaign as Brendon Jones felt that fellow Canberran Miller “is going one direction, I’m going the other” after they had contrasting opening rounds on Thursday, as per Sydney Morning Herald reports.

“He’s a very consistent player, Matt (is), he probably handled those conditions a little bit better – I was probably a little bit hot tempered out there just from being tired and having the year that I’ve had,” Jones said.

Brendon Jones is one of the favorites in the tournament as he accumulated a total of $10Million following multiple wins in Japan. He is regarded as Canberra’s best golfer.

South African rookie Zander Lombard made a stunning effort to take the lead shooting a perfect 5-under-par 67 at the Royal Pines resort.
