Australia will play West Indies in the third and final test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, Jan.3 starting 10:30 AM local time.
Australia have been in exceptional form in the recent series as well as in the home series against New Zealand. The Australian side has already registered a thumping series win over West Indies as they lead the three-match test series 2-0.
The home didn’t take much time in the fourth day of the Melbourne Test match as Mitchell Marsh bowled some superb spells to register a 177-run victory over the visiting side.
As per the Sky Sports reports, the Australian team will feature two spinners for the first time in a decade on the Sydney Cricket Pitch. The Sydney ground assists spinners considerably well as compared to other Australian wickets.
The last time two spinners played in an Australian squad was way back in 2006 with leg-spinners Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill. It resulted in a win against South Africa.
Australia currently have one specialist spinner in Nathan Lyon. Steve O’Keefe is being vouched for in the Sydney Test.
Australian coach Darren Lehmann was quoted as saying, “He’s bowling really well. The selectors have watched him through state cricket.”
“He’d probably bat at eight, probably bat above Patto (paceman James Pattinson) if they both play.
“He can certainly bat and he’s a chirpy little feisty bloke in the field. Looking forward to him contributing if he gets his chance.
As per the Sydney Morning Herald, Peter Siddle is doubtful for the upcoming test. Lehmann also confirmed that James Pattinson will lead the bowling attack in Sydney along with Josh Hazlewood.
The West Indian team will look to play for pride in the final test match.
