Korean-Australian singer Dami Im is Australia’s representative to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The 2013 X-Factor winner has released her entry to the annual TV song competition, and it appears that she has become an early favourite to win the competition.
Dami Im will present the song entitled Sound of Silence. Metro describes the song as a modern power ballad that will be reminiscent of fellow Aussie crooner Sia’s tunes. The song allows Im’s vocal chops to soar in all the right places. The music video that accompanies Sound of Silence is by itself worthy of a chart-topping position.
The song was written by Sydney production team DNA.
This is Australia’s second participation in the Eurovision Song Contest after having been invited as a guest on last year’s 60th anniversary program. Last year’s entrant, Guy Sebastian, took home a stellar fifth place finish which is more than what a first-timer could expect.
For this year’s event, Australia is aiming higher and Dami Im is the sure bet to catapult the country to the top.

The 27-year-old South Korean-born artist is working hard to prepare for Eurovision which will take place in Stockholm, Sweden.
“I feel very lucky to be doing what I love and to be representing my country as a new Australian, it’s a big honour for me,” Im told Sydney Morning Herald about her gig. “With Sound of Silence, I got a chance to show off the vocals and the range and it has that really modern sound to it.”
Forty-three countries are participating in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest which is set to take place on May 10, 12, and 14.
