Though she might be busy with her latest album “Dangerous Woman”, Ariana Grande proved she’s a true BFF who’s ready to speak up for any of her friends written off by labels.

The pop star spoke her mind on labels often attached to a woman regardless of how successful she is, HollywoodLife wrote. Although she didn’t mention any names in particular, it was rather evident who she referred to.

The publication cited an excerpt from Billboard cover interview.

“I saw a headline—draw your own conclusions [on the subjects] because it’ll be so much drama that I don’t want—they called someone another someone’s ex, and that pissed me off. This person has had so many great records in the last year, and she hasn’t been dating him forever. Call her by her name!,” Grande told Billboard.

Chris Martins of Billboard Magazine noted her statement talked about the on-again, off-again romance between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. The writer noted that it could’ve been the pop singer’s own sentiment that she voiced out.

Like Gomez, Grande has worked hard to achieve her own success and to have it stolen or downplayed by a former romance is not acceptable.

Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez certainly support one another. Gomez reached out and supported Grande in 2015 after the latter posted her feminist essay online. HollywoodLife cited parts from Grande’s essay then.

“Being ’empowered’…. is not the same as being a ‘bitch’… “HAVING SOMETHING TO SAY…. is not the same as HAVING A BAD ATTITUDE. What I meant when I said what I said about not being Sean’s ex is that I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present, or future PROPERTY / POSSESSION. I… do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you,” Grande wrote then.
