Adult animated espionage comedy TV series “Archer” recently had its season finale. While fans wait for Season 8, news is that it might not happen at all. Instead, the show might get converted to a live-action movie.

“Archer” producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis recently revealed that they have been toying with the idea of a live-action movie with show creator Adam Reed. If it happens, however, it will only be after the series ends. However, there is no news about the show being renewed for a Season 8. As a result, the speculations of a possible movie starring “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm are gaining momentum.

In an interview with the Daily Beast just before the season finale, the producers said that they always think about doing a movie instead of the show. “It’s all up to whatever Adam [Reed] wants to do, but he and I have definitely talked about it. I think we talk about it once every two years. We vacillate between if you do it, why are you doing the TV show?” said Thompson.

“And should it be live-action, or should it be cartoon? The talk is there, we just still haven’t decided. I don’t think there will be a movie before the last episode of Archer airs on TV. I don’t think we’ll make a movie before the series finishes,” he added.

“Archer” lead Sterling Archer is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin. If the live-action does happen, the character should be played by no one but Jon Hamm, states Uproxx. The makers might even consider a character that is a combination of Jon Hamm and H. Jon Benjamin for the role. However, the rest of the cast might stay the same. “It’s Jon Hamm. If Archer goes live-action, I do believe it will be Jon Hamm. Maybe you could do it with Jon Benjamin’s voice coming out of him?” said Thompson.

“I don’t know. Adam is always like, ‘I don’t know if I want the movie to be live-action because I want it to be Jon Benjamin!’ But if it is live-action—and if it is not Jon Benjamin—it is our greatest hope that it would be Jon Hamm. I can say that with confidence,” he added.
