The King of the Atlantis is reported to battle against Black Manta in the upcoming Aquaman movie.
Warner Bros. has yet to confirm if Black Manta will be the main villain in the Aquaman movie. However, the buzz is getting louder since the character has been Aquaman’s long standing arch nemesis in the comic book series.

Black Manta made his debut in DC Comics in 1967’s Aquaman #35. The character had no clear origin story at the time until 1993. This comic book edition saw Black Manta’s beginnings as a young boy from Baltimore was kidnapped, held aboard a ship, and abused by his captors, and then unintentionally ignored by Aquaman. This led to a hatred of the super hero.
The character has gone through several face-lifts in terms of his origin and continuity. The most recent was in DC’s New 52. The edition presented the Black Manta as an assassin who abhor Aquaman because of father’s death. The King of the Atlantis accidentally killed Manta’s father while seeking vengeance for a murder that was committed by Manta.
The most recent story about Black Manta saw him spend some time in Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary, the prison is where members of the Suicide Squad are incarcerated. He however declined to join Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad.
Black Manta is a normal human being without any superhuman powers. However, he has abilities that include enhanced strength and endurance because of his battle suit, Collider noted.
Jason Momoa will be playing the lead role Aquaman/Athrur Curry. The superhero first made his debut in the recent DC movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The James Wan’s movie also stars Amber Heard as Curry’s Atlantean love interest, Mera. Actor Willem Dafoe will portray the role of Nuidis Vulko, Aquaman’s fellow Atlantean.
