“Aquaman” star Jason Momoa is scary, yet a loving person like the character he is about to portray in the big screen.

Both movie and comic book fans have been absorbing all kind of leaks pouring from anywhere with regards the DC upcoming films. The much-awaited “Aquaman” is not excepted from this.

The DC Films official Tumblr account recently posted some behind the scenes images of the actor. The photos were mostly animated GIFs courtesy of Deborah Snyder. The wife of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” director Zack Snyder said Momoa’s huge presence is a little bit scary. However, he is also a warm and loving person. “We felt like these were the characteristics Aquaman needed to have,” Synder said.

Momoa is best known for his role as Dothraki’s warrior Khal Drogo in “Game of Thrones.” The GoT character was also a scary nomadic warrior. However, fan learned to love him because of how he cares about Daenerys Targaryen.

This time Momoa will play another enormous character – Arthur Curry, a.k.a. “Aquaman”. The superhero is the King of Atlantis, more than a protagonist who is saving the world from DC villains. Curry also serves as a politician handling negotiations with the humans on land.

DC fans already saw how fierce “Aquaman” is during his brief cameo on “Batman v Superman”. He was seen attacking a camera that had been doing surveillance on the metahuman like him.

Aquaman’s powers have long been considered as the dumbest within the DC universe. This became a challenge to the production team. DC attempted to change this image by losing his hand and replacing it with a gnarly looking hook.

However, “Aquaman” never really got the respect he deserves. Cinema Blend noted director James Wan is fully aware of this and he intends to change people’s perception in the character in its solo outing.

Momoa’s standalone movie will premiere in July 2018. He will join the rest of the DC Universe superheroes in “Justice League: Part One”. The first installment of JL movies is scheduled to hit theaters in November 2017.
