Actor Anton Yelchin passed away at 27 years old in a car accident that took place in his California home. News of Anton Yelchin dead was confirmed by authorities and the actor’s representative.
Yelchin, popularly known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek remake, was found in his driveway at around 1 am on June 19, Sunday. His body was found pinned against a pillar in his driveway by his Jeep Grand Cherokee.

According to reports, the Russian-born actor stepped out of his car to clear his gate when his car suddenly rolled down the steep incline and hit him. “The car pinned him against a brick wall and a security fence and that trauma led to his death,” Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Jenny Houser said in a statement, as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald.
The Fright Night star was supposed to attend a rehearsal around that time. When he didn’t show up, his friends grew concerned and decided to visit his home in San Fernando Valley to check on him only to find Anton Yelchin dead.
Police officers pronounced Anton Yelchin dead on the scene, although it is still being determined whether he died instantly on impact. “Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning. His family requests you respect their privacy at this time,” the actor’s publicist said, Mirror reported.
Star Trek cast and crew, celebrity friends, and fans paid tribute to the actor and shared their condolences to his family. Co-star Zachary Quinto remembered Yelchin as “one of the most open and intellectually curious people” he has ever met. “Wise beyond his years,” Quinto wrote on Instagram.
John Cho also took to social media to express his grief, saying, “He was true artist – curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I’m in ruins.”

Yelchin will appear in the third installment of the revived Star Trek Beyond franchise, which will be released on July 22.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident. The actor’s family and representatives have not shared funeral details and are requesting for privacy in this time of grief.
