Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric has already earned him a lot of criticism. Many have spoken out against Trump’s controversial remarks on Muslim Community and the latest among them is Angelina Jolie.
Trump’s comments on Muslims did not go very well with Angelina Jolie. When Jolie was addressing UN High Commission for Refugees in London on Monday, she was asked about her opinion on Donald Trump’s attitude towards Muslims, reported CNN.
Her response to the question was to shook her head in disapproval and said, “To me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion. So it’s hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president.”
Moreover, Jolie made an ardent appeal to the world community to unite to address the refugee crisis, reported BBC. She also warned against a “fear of migration” and “a race to the bottom” regarding countries competing to be the toughest to protect themselves.
According to Huffington Post, Jolie has compared the present refugee crisis to World War II and also said it was “that once-in-a-generation moment when nations have to pull together.”
Incidentally, Donald Trump defined his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US by saying that he wants to study the issue of radical Islam and that he was flexible in his responses. Earlier he said that he wanted a total ban on Muslims entering the US. But in his interview with Brian Kilmeade of Fox News Radio last week, he changed his version and said that the proposal was “just a suggestion”.
Trump’s comments on temporary ban on Muslims followed the Syrians’ escape from their war-devastated country to America and Europe and Obama’s pledge to take 10,000 of them.
Noteworthy, Angelina Jolie is not the only celebrity to speak out against Donald Trump’s controversial comments during the campaign. Earlier celebrities like George Clooney and Miley Cirus have spoken against the presumptive Republican presidential candidate.
