Sony has already announced the handsets that will receive the latest treat – Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, the company remains mum on when exactly will the newest Sony smartphones be receiving the update.
Fans can rejoice in the fact that the devices from the company are predicted to be the first non-nexus handsets to be receiving the Marshmallow update, as noted by Gospel Herald. And naturally so, the Sony flagships Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Premium have apparently acquired the top spots in the list of devices to be getting the Marshmallow flavor, as shared by Neurogadget.
The report notes that the roll-out for the latest Sony flagships should begin sometime this month, however, the OTA update being dependent on the carrier, the release dates with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon may vary. But it does seem quite unlikely that the update will be rolled-out before the holiday season kicks-off.
According to report on Android Pit, Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact users in certain regions in Europe have already received the company’s concept build of Marshmallow as they had registered for beta testing. They received the concept build in the week starting October 19 and are now gearing up for the first OTA update.
Even users registered for beta testing may have to be patient as the update is being released gradually in the select European regions.
Sony’s official list on the devices to receive the Marshmallow update includes Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Premium, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C4, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
Out of these devices it is the Sony Xperia Z3+, Z4 Tablet, C4, C5 Ultra and M5 which will be jumping the Android 5.1.1 update to directly receive the Android 6.0 treat.
Keep checking back for the official dates of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll-out from Sony.
