Amir Khan has already set sights on his next bout even before he fights Canelo Alvarez for the World Boxing Council middleweight boxing title this Saturday, May 7.

The rising British star has been waiting for his own superstar fight for a long time. With reigning WBC middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez, he finally manages to land one. However, the UK boxing star is not content and is already pushing for another title fight.

Right now, he eyes both Golovkin and Mayweather as possible contenders.

“Yeah, for sure [I’d fight Golovkin]. That’s what boxing’s about. Boxing’s about giving the fans the fights they want and I mean that’s what we all should be in. We should be fighting the best and not avoiding each other. So, yeah, I would take that fight,” Alvarez says to CBS Sports.

If Khan fights against Golovkin, he will have to step it up with his weight in order to enter the middleweight division.

It seems Golovkin’s camp is eager to see who will come out victorious in the Canelo-Khan fight.

“At this point, the winner of Canelo-Khan fights him or Gennady will just take the title. Canelo is a warrior who has fought guys that he didn’t need to fight, like Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara. Right now, a fight between Canelo and Gennady is the biggest fight in the sport,” Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter said to Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, after Mayweather hinted that he might get out of retirement for the right reasons, Khan may have some hope to hang onto. This comes after Mayweather along with welterweight champion Pacquiao skirted the possibilities of going up against him while the two boxing stars were still active.

Amir Khan is currently up against Canelo Alvarez for the World Boxing Council middleweight boxing title this Saturday, May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
