It was previously reported that Gaga and Cooper are possibly working together on a project after they were spotted sharing a motorcycle ride recently. There were rumors that Cooper will appear in “American Horror Story.” Now that it is clear that the “Bad Romance” hitmaker is the one who might join the cast of Cooper’s directorial movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper will direct the movie which is based on the 1937 film starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. The film follows the life of a movie star who will help an aspiring young actress to find stardom. In 1954, a reboot was also made by director George Cukor, starring Judy Garland and James Mason. Another version came out in 1976, with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as lead stars.
Warner Bros. has been working on another remake for years. The female lead role was first offered to Beyonce, while “American Sniper” director Clint Eastwood will direct the production. However in 2011, Eastwood left the project to make “Jersey Boys.” Beyoncé reportedly followed suit the same year after Cooper and Warner Bros backed out because of her asking fee, The Guardian wrote. There were also reports that the “Lemonade” hitmaker did not accept the project because she became pregnant with her daughter, THR noted.
Deadline reported that Cooper’s first choice for the female lead role is Lady Gaga and that the singer already screen-tested successfully. The “A Star is Born” remake will be the actor’s directorial debut and his first project with Gaga.
Aside from AHS, actor Taylor Kinney’s fiancé had small appearances in “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” “Machete Kills” and “Muppets Most Wanted” in the past.
