Actress Angela Bassett is set to take the director’s chair in at least one episode of the upcoming season of “American Horror Story.”
Bassett has confirmed that she will be returning in AHS, but this time as a director. The actress appeared on “The Chew” this week and announced that she will direct one episode of the season. “[I’ll direct] at least one episode. We usually have male directors but I’ll be the first female director,” Bassett said.
“[I’ll direct] at least one episode. We usually have male directors but I’ll be the first female director,” Bassett said.
She will be the first woman to be in the helm for AHS, but the actress has already past experiences in directing. She directed “Whitney,” the Lifetime TV movie about Whitney Houston which was aired early last year. Bassett also directed an episode of the TV show “Breakthrough,” Enstarz noted.
It is still unclear whether Bassett will have a bigger role in the upcoming season of AHS. She has mostly been seen in a supporting role since she first appeared in “American Horror Story: Coven,” although she has already earned two Emmy nods for the series.
“American Horror Story” season six is set to premiere this fall on FX.
Meanwhile, Bassett has all nice things to say about Lady Gaga, whom she had bed scene in “American Horror Story: Hotel.”
“But she’s the nicest person, she is warm, she is gracious, she’s funny. She makes everybody feel comfortable, she’s comfortable with herself, so no one’s tripping — except for me,” she said.
Bassett revealed how stunned her husband, Courtney B. Vance, was when they watched her racy with the “Bad Romance” singer.
Bassett said she never told her husband about the bed scene with Gaga because she wanted it to be a surprise. But when they sat down to watch the episode of “American Horror Story: Hotel,” Vance was stunned. Basset added she needed to pause the episode and let Vance absorb it first.
Entertainment Weekly quoted Bassett saying: “I hear, I think, perhaps that she’s out to return. She had a good time with us.”
