There is another reason for American Horror Story fans to rejoice. FX renewed the hit anthology for Season 7.

American Horror Story Season 6 has just premiered and is now building up the suspense for the highly anticipated Episode 6. Now, FX has brought the excitement up another notch!

The network has announced that AHS will definitely return next year for its seventh installment. Co-creator Ryan Murphy has also teased on what theme Season 7 will have, and apparently, it involves a “strange idea.” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly: “It’s also a narratively strange idea. I’ve already started to call people saying, ‘Put this on your calendar.’ It’s a good one.”

FX Networks and Productions CEO John Landgraf said in a statement that the continued success of American Horror Story only proves how the show resonates with fans. Landgraf also noted how each new installment creates a cultural event and how fans anticipate its theme and twists.

AHS has been one of the most successful series of FX – in terms of both viewership and awards. To date, American Horror Story has won 15 Emmys including two for Jessica Lange. The American Horror Story: Roanoke premiere ranked third most-watched episode in the franchise history.  The American Horror Story: Freak Show and American Horror Story: Hotel premieres are the anthology’s highest rated episodes.

According to E! News, Season 6 Episode 1 has been watched by over 13 million viewers across platforms thus far.

Meanwhile, AHS producers are now keeping the details of Season 7 their most guarded secret. There were no details of Season 7 divulged so far other than that it will premiere in 2017.

The show has been known for guarding its season themes and ideas. For AHS: Roanoke, FX released 24 different teaser promos just to keep fans from guessing until its season premiere.

Meanwhile, Murphy also teased about a secret season for AHS. Murphy said he will be working on one writer for his secret season, and only the two of them would know about the details of the season.
