1.  Alden Richards started acting at the age of 18.

His first television commercial was a multi-vitamins product. Before landing the role, he claims to have failed auditions, Pep.ph notes.

Alden hails from the province of Sta. Rosa, Laguna and has joined pageants. He won Ginoong Santa Rosa in 2009 and Ginoong Laguna in 2010.

3. He previously used his real name in auditions.

In another Pep.ph report, the site noted that Alden had used his real name when he auditioned for “Starstruck,” a televised talent search. He did not win but look at him now!

4.  Becoming an actor was his mother’s dream for him.

Alden admits that it was not his dream to be an actor, but her mother’s, who died seven years ago. She insisted that if there was an opportunity, he should grab it, Pep.ph notes.

5. Alden was given a break in 2011.

When he passed an audition, he changed his name to Alden Richards. He became part of GMA’s local drama, “Alakdana” (The Lady Scorpion).

6. TV Station GMA knew he would be big.

Another Pep.ph report reveals that in 2011, the television station’s forecast was that Alden would be a hit in 2012. Well, certainly, they did not expect AlDub!

7. Alden was a co-host before AlDub happened.

Alden told Philippine Star that he became a co-host in noontime show “Eat Bulaga” on a try-out period. He said he did his very best to become a mainstay. Yes, you did!
