The second half of “Agents of SHIELD” season 3 is still a month away and the long wait is keeping fans thirsty for more information regarding the remainder of the season.
To lighten the pain of waiting, a report from International Business Times details that Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell) will explore their relationship more when the show returns. The website points out that the blossoming romance between the two may be the cause for a delay on Daisy’s task in forming a Secret Warriors team.
It can be recalled that at the end of “Agents of SHIELD” season 2, Daisy was tasked by Director Phil Coulson to recruit as many Inhumans as she can and train them to control their gifts. The development in the first part of season 3 led to Lincoln being part of that team. Hence, now that the new Inhuman has agreed to be part of SHIELD, he and Daisy have more opportunity to spend time together.
Still, although a romance between the two is enough reason to cause a delay on the formation of Secret Warriors, another reason has been cited on why the band of Inhumans will take time to be assembled.
IGN details that the other reason is the theme that “Agents of SHIELD” is going for which is “trying to maintain humanity in the world of […] Inhumans.”
With regard to abiding to the show’s theme, IGN quoted showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen in saying:
“If we’re just going to dive right into having all these people who can do this, that and the other, I don’t think that would be fair to our theme.”
True enough, “Agents of SHIELD” has begun with the premise that there is this secret organization that has high knowledge of things and powers that are outside human capabilities. In turn, in order to maintain peace and reduce panic, it is their job to keep those outside-of-this-world things a secret to most people.
For now, it remains to be seen how the show will treat the Inhumans story line.
“Agents of SHIELD” will return on March 8, 2016 on ABC.
