“Agent Carter” was cancelled right after its second season had been wrapped up. But, according to the show’s lead star Hayley Atwell, fans might still get a third installment. Or at least, she said producers already have story plans for the possible Agent Carter Season 3.

According to Cinema Blend, a third season for the former ABC show has not been confirmed. However, Atwell did reveal that producers were already in the middle of planning for the show’s next chapter when it was axed.  “There was talk of Season 3…going further back into her past,” she said.

The actress also revealed what the series would have explored next if it had not been cancelled earlier. “The showrunners were talking about a possible kind of twist… something to do with the family. They suggested there would be more to do with my brother,” Atwell explained.

The show’s second season ended on a cliffhanger. But fans are still hoping to find out what happens to Peggy Carter next. Some fans have even launched a Change.org petition for streaming site Netflix to continue with Agent Carter Season 3. It must be noted that Atwell herself refused to go into detail about the Season 3 plans she mentioned. Could this mean she has not given up hope on the Marvel series either? Could the actress still be holding out for a next season?

Her co-star, Dominic Cooper, earlier revealed he has not completely given up. According to Digital Spy, the actor even suggested another option for their show’s next small screen home. “I’m sure there’s people talking about it now,” he said. “What’s wonderful about Amazon… whereas that might have been the end of the road completely, now there is hope that it might not be.”

However, both Netflix and Amazon have yet to express interest in reviving the show.
