The 9.7-inch iPad Pro was just introduced to the world and the latest tablet, in more ways than one appears to be a worthy successor to the iPad Air 2.
The new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, besides bearing a new name, comes with a Smart Connector and support for Apple Pencil plus an enhanced battery life, as noted by Tech Radar. Previous leaks had indicated that the device will be arriving with these features as well as four speakers, and the new iPad Pro didn’t disappoint. There are naturally the added features that users of the 9.7-inch variant can enjoy.
As for the design, there is not much difference between the iPad Air 2 and the 9.7-inch iPad. The additions to the latter are the speakers, Smart Connector and a Rose Gold colour option, as mentioned on the official Apple website. The chassis are identical with a 240mm x 169.5mm x 6.1mm measurement and each weighing 437g. Both, the iPad Air 2 and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro possess a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 screen. The upgrades to the Pro model read out to be a True Tone display, effectively managing the white balance.
The major leap comes in the form of the processor, with the new iPad Pro (9.7-inch) hiding an Apple A9X chipset whereas the Air 2 is equipped with an A8X. Also, the cameras have received a major upgrade with a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP rear one with similar capabilities of the snapper as seen on the iPhone 6S, including 4K video shooting. All in all, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro is an identical smaller variant of the iPad Pro.
In comparison to the iPad Air 2, the smaller iPad Pro has more features and better specs and naturally a higher price point. But with the new upgrades, the 9.7-inch sure seems like an option that many will opt for. Tell us which iPad would you pick over the other. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
