Fans are still waiting for the long overdue “The Winds of Winter” to hit bookshelves.
“The Winds of Winter” is the sixth book from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. It is also where GoT season six is supposed to be based on. “Game of Thrones” season six premieres on April 24 on HBO.
While the book release is still uncertain, many continue to speculate on its content especially now that “Game of Thrones” season six has just released its latest trailer.
In his blog post earlier this year, Martin admitted that “The Winds of Winter” will not be released before the return of HBO’s TV series. He, however, offered some hints at what fans could expect in the upcoming book.
“Will the show ‘spoil’ the novels? Maybe. Yes and no,” he said. “Given where we are, inevitably, there will be certain plot twists and reveals in season six of GAME OF THRONES that have not yet happened in the books,” Martin revealed.
The new “Game of Thrones” trailer indeed offer not only glimpse of what to expect this season but also some spoilers for the upcoming George R.R. Martin’s book. Here are some things that you have to keep an eye for.
In the trailer, Snow seems to be dead. However, Martin earlier hinted that Snow may still be alive in the book.
In the new GoT trailer, Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) will go face to face with the White Walker’s Night King. However, Bran is seen standing up. This means it could be just a scene from one of his visions.
3. Euron and Balon Greyjoy
Balon Greyjoy died in the books, but is still alive on the HBO hit TV series, Bustle noted. But it looks like there will be a murderous confrontation between Euron and Balon this season, iDigital Times wrote.
4. Theon Greyjoys
It seems like Reek will become Theon Greyjoy once more, iDigital Times wrote. On the HBO series, Reek was last seen fleeing Winterfell with Sansa Stark. In preview chapters for “The Winds of Winter,” Theon has been captured by Stannis Baratheon and is set to be executed. But in the trailer, Theon was seen getting dunked in water by men in Greyjoy armor, the site reported.
Danaerys is seen in teaser walking sadly alongside the hugest Khalasar, the Dothraki Sea has ever seen. But Khaleesi’s hand ate not bound, Bustle noted.
Meanwhile, Martin has also warned that not all spoilers could be real when it comes to his books and its TV adaptation. The Guardian quoted him saying: “Some of the ‘spoilers’ you may encounter in season six may not be spoilers at all … because the show and the books have diverged, and will continue to do so.”
